About the Position: You will assist engineering staff in the development of complex preliminary and final designs for mechanical or civil engineering features of navigation and flood risk management, recreation projects, and/or military (i.e. barracks, maintenance shops, training center, office buildings).
Duties
Assist engineering staff in the development of complex preliminary and final designs for structural engineering features of navigation and flood control projects, local flood protection, hydraulic piping systems, and mechanical power systems.
Using information in the form of sketches, notes, or verbal instructions from engineers the incumbent will assemble and integrate pertinent information into the work assignment.
Develop advanced 3-dimensional models of structural features using CADD software and assists others in using these models for plan presentation.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the capabilities, operating characteristics, and functions of a variety of software packages for the CADD system.
Using office automation software, assist in the preparation of support documents relating to technical studies or specification and design submissions using drafts of preliminary designs.
Convert various engineering and technical data and measurements into forms usable by engineers through use of computer aided Design and Drafting (CADD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) techniques.

- This position requires temporary duty travel (TDY) up to 10% of the time.

For GS-8: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing technical work such as drafting, utilizing survey data to develop grading plans; developing details based on engineering sketches; and organizing drawing sets to support project solicitation packages. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
For GS-9: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes making technical recommendations based on preliminary data interpretation and test results; converting various engineering and technical data and measurements into forms usable by engineers through use of computer aided Design and Drafting (CADD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
For GS-10: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing support to engineers and technical staff in the preparation of project plans, specifications or schedules; performing project inspections and reporting on their findings; converting various engineering and technical data and measurements into forms usable by engineers through use of computer aided Design and Drafting (CADD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
For GS-11: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing project plans, specifications or schedules; reviewing the work of others for QA/QC; providing written or oral reports with recommendations for modification, correction, or preventive maintenance; and developing advanced 3-dimensional models of mechanical or civil features using CADD software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
