About the Position: Provide technical services for the Maintenance Section in Operations Division: prepare estimates of costs, plans and specifications for service, supply and construction contracts related to new/existing buildings, equipment, and other facilities; utilize CADD and GIS software; conduct inspections and surveys of navigation and flood risk management facilities to include equipment, buildings, grounds, utilities, etc.; maintain records in a facility maintenance system.
Duties
Coordinates contract actions between the District Field Sites and the District Contracting Office.
Prepares, reviews, and coordinates Statements Of Work for various maintenance and repair projects.
Provides technical support to field sites in the execution of designs in accordance with established, quality standards, schedules, and budgets.
Works with field maintenance staff relative to technical operating aspects of projects.
Participates in commonly performed inspections, Operational Condition Assessments, and other engineering inspections.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- One (1) year probationary period may be required if not completed previously.
- Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license for the duration of employment.
- A pre-employment physical is required. Must be able to lift 40 or more pounds.
- During inspections you may be exposed to uneven terrain, moving equipment, adverse weather conditions, and may be required to wear protective equipment.
- May be required to prolonged standing, bending, climbing, using ladders, or being at high heights.

Specialized Experience GS-09: One year of specialized experience which includes: researching materials and supplies for cost estimate quotes; inputting data in to facility maintenance tracking system; assisting with statements of work and calculations of cost estimates for assigned projects; preparing recurring reports regarding projects; or participating in inspections on locks and dams, flood risk management structures and/or facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
Specialized Experience GS-10: One year of specialized experience which includes: preparing repair recommendations for supervisory review; researching materials and supplies for cost estimate quotes; assisting with statements of work and calculations of cost estimates for assigned projects; or participating in inspections on locks and dams, flood risk management structures and/or facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
Specialized Experience GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes: troubleshooting operating systems, tools, equipment, and structures to determine depth of repairs required; conducting meetings to discuss technical information to a variety of audiences; developing statements of work and calculations of cost estimates for assigned projects; and performing inspections on locks and dams, flood risk management structures and facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10).
