You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Integrated Logisitics Support Division, Ocean Engineering Department, of PSNS and IMF.
Duties
You will analyze technical documents (e.g. drawings, drawing change notices, Maintenance Procedures, etc.) that form the basis of technical documents in support of Ocean Engineering Programs.
You will produce detailed instructions and production documents for accomplishment of work and testing in accordance
with established procedures, guidelines, and other technical direction.
You will develop detailed job summaries, component unit identifiers, component unit phases, production work documents, and task group instructions required to accomplish overhaul and repair to Ocean Engineering (OE) systems.
You will determine applicability of available technical information and guidance for accomplishment of production tasks, suitability of existing procedures, processes, and methods, and identify additional guidance where needed.
You will prepare production instructions for accomplishment of work and testing in accordance with established procedures, guidelines, and other technical direction.
You will receive work authorizations for ship alterations, design modifications, engineering change proposals, and planned maintenance and identify the processes, facilities, trade involvement, equipment, and materials needed to complete work.
You will investigate availability of material, sources of purchase or manufacture, and substitution possibilities to initiate formal procurement of material through automated programs.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
For the GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing technical engineering services including analyzing workflow, material procurement, and technical instructions to identify issues and develop or modify work methods or procedures for ship or submarine system repair, overhaul, or maintenance projects.
For the GS-10: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: employing technical engineering methods and practices to analyze workflow, material procurement, or technical instructions to identify issues and recommend improved work methods or procedures for ship or submarine system repair, overhaul, or maintenance projects.
