You will serve as an Equipment Specialist and Weight Handling Equipment Coordinator within the Facility & Equipment Maintenance Division of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will designate, assign work, and monitor performance for up to 32 Weight Handling Equipment Subject Matter Experts (WHESME).
You will ensure weight handling equipment (e.g. Cranes, Hoists, Aviation Support Equipment, Aircraft Lifting Slings, etc.) complies within agency standards and operation requirements.
You will coordinate safe operations and maintenance requirements for assigned weight handling equipment
You will conduct technical investigations in support of a major industrial program.
You will communicate status and program health to higher level authorities.
You will ensure personnel are equipped with proper training and certification to maintain safe operations of weight handling equipment.
You will use modern computer hardware and software to communicate and produce memos, letters, and reports related to weight handling equipment matters.
You will make certain all shops are performing internal reviews and surveillances on their weight handling equipment activities.
You will exercise skill and judgment in overcoming resistance to recommendation due to issues, such as organizational conflict, competing objectives, or resource problems.
You will perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

- Must successfully complete physical examination in accordance with agency guidelines.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment and clothing.
- You will obtain and maintain required certification and/or license (e.g. Crane License) as a condition of employment.
Qualifications
For GS-09 position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized Equipment Specialist experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of specialized experience includes: (1) Applying working knowledge of weight handing equipment (e.g. cranes, hoists, heavy equipment and vehicles, aviation support equipment, aircraft lift slings, etc.) concepts, principles, and methodology to assist in managing and supporting a major industrial facility program; (2) Demonstrating job related experience in monitoring safe operations and maintenance requirements for assigned weight handling equipment; (3) Coordinating with other personnel to make certain that weight handling equipment is within compliance of industry and agency standards; (4) Providing assistance to higher level personnel in conducting technical reviews to ensure weight handling equipment is certified and maintained; (5) Proposing recommendations to internal or external contacts for program improvements based on program requirements and observances that may drive changes in support of a major industrial facility program; (6) Employing good judgment in choosing, interpreting, or adapting available guidelines to specific issues encountered; and (7) Utilizing computer-database(s) and Microsoft Office software to maintain weight handling equipment support and associated technical records as well as generate reports and obtain up-to-date data for assigned equipment, repair, modification, or replacement.

You have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree related to the Equipment Specialist position being filled.
Or
You have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree related to the Equipment Specialist position being filled.
Or
You have obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the Equipment Specialist position being filled.
Or
You have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Also, your percentage of the required education plus your percentage of the required experience equates to one hundred percent.
For GS-11 position, your resume must demonstrate at least have one year of specialized Equipment Specialist experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
