You will serve as a Supervisory Equipment Specialist in the Fleet Operations Department, Material Handling Equipment Division of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR SAN DIEGO.

Duties

You will investigate and prepare reports and/or briefings pertaining to a broad variety of task and functions on emerging missions and training work requirements involving the acquisition, accountability, and maintenance of MHE. You will track and document MHE maintenance actions in designated data bases to include training, certifying, and establishing system access for MHE customers. You will Perform periodic reviews and audits to assess property accountability, management system effectiveness and policy compliance. You will Identify manpower and material resources required to support the assigned mission and provide necessary input to department wide budget. You will Conduct and supervise physical inventories and ensuring that all discrepancies are reconciled, documented, and filed in the personal property records. You will Supervise all work performed by equipment specialists, supply specialist, material handler, mechanics, and government civilians and military personnel when assigned. You will create, manage, and maintain a positive, safe work environment that allows employees to excel while upholding high standards of integrity and ethical behavior.

  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Forklift Operator license.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the duties of an equipment management specialist applying an in-depth knowledge of the operational capacity and use of Material Handling Equipment (MHE). In addition, you have the skill in applying this knowledge to complex and difficult assignments such as repair, modification and overhaul of MHE. You have experience performing leadership functions such as planning and assigning work of subordinates, establishing short- and long-term goals, and managing attendance, awards, and discipline. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Investigating and preparing reports and/or briefings pertaining to a broad variety of task and functions on emerging missions and training work requirements involving the acquisition, accountability, and maintenance of MHE; 2) Tracking and documenting MHE maintenance actions in designated databases to include training, certifying, and establishing system access for MHE customers; 3) Performing periodic reviews and audits to assess property accountability, management system effectiveness and policy compliance; 4) Identifying manpower and material resources required to support the assigned mission and provide necessary input to department wide budget; 5) Conducting and supervising physical inventories and ensuring that all discrepancies are reconciled, documented, and filed in the personal property records; 6) Supervising all work performed by equipment specialists, supply specialist, material handler, mechanics, and government civilians and military personnel when assigned.
