You will serve as an OFFICE AUTOMATION ASSISTANT (AWARDS AND PERFORMANCE) in the Human Resources Department of NMRTC PEARL HARBOR HI.

Duties

You will serve as program manager and primary point of contact for all military evaluations and reports, and all military and civilian awards for personnel assigned to Naval Health Clinic Hawaii. You will provide quality assurance measures and ensure naval officer fitness reports are error free. You will review fitness reports and evaluations for accuracy, correct grammar , and timeliness. You will interpret guidelines and regulations for awards and special pay to ensure compliance. You will maintain computer database for awards and fitness reports. You will be responsible for the process from brag sheet initiation through final typing and mailing. You will maintain strict confidentiality, ensure accuracy and completeness, and serve as final reviewer of all fitness reports and evaluations. You will compose grammatically correct, non-technical correspondence related to fitness report and enlisted evaluation groups to ensure accurate and timely submission to the Naval Military Personnel Command.

Requirements

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.
  • In accordance with BUMEDINST 6220.9B, all personnel must receive and maintain appropriate vaccination against seasonal influenza.

Qualifications

GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience reviewing fitness reports and evaluations to ensure accurate, grammatically correct, and complete reports are submitted on time; Experience proofing letters, reports, records and memorandums, and assuring correct grammar, capitalization, spelling, punctuation, sentence flow, for proper format; Experience interpreting guidelines and regulations for awards and special pay to ensure compliance; Experience maintaining computer database for awards, and fitness reports through software applications, and word processing; and Experience communicating effectively orally and in writing, serving as a primary point of contact and technical support for evaluations, reports, and awards. GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience using personal computer software applications, such as presentations, spreadsheets, word processing and database applications; Experience reviewing and preparing reports, from electronic drafts, and various software components into final reports; Experience proofing letters, reports, records and memorandums, and assuring correct grammar, capitalization, spelling, punctuation, sentence flow, for proper format; Experience planning, organizing work, and meeting deadlines; and Experience meeting and dealing with customers using a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
