About the Position: This position is located in the Budget and Accounting Branch of the Resource Management Office on Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Duties

Serve as a Budget Analyst for the Resource Management Office. Responsible for the administration of Defense Travel System (DTS). Adjust data for a variety of project programs. Serve as Army Program Coordinator for the Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) Program for JBLM Garrison Headquarters (HQ). Responsible for conducting in and out processing for the installation organizations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires incumbent to obtain a Financial Management Level 2 Certification within two-years of employment.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Assisting in monitoring fund availability and assigning lines of accounting for direct and indirect costs; 2) Providing assistance in preparing reports on funds and information for travel; and 3) Utilize automated systems to extract and input budgetary information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Finance, Accounting or Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100% to qualify. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Accounting OperationsBudget AdministrationConcepts, Policies, and Principles of BudgetFinancial Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade, time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: To support the Advancement requirement you MUST submit a copy of your latest non-award SF-50/NPA that reflects your highest grade held on a permanent basis along with your application/resume package. You must meet the one year time-in-grade requirement so you will need to provide an SF-50 which clearly demonstrates you meet the time-in-grade requirements. Failure to do so may affect your rating or consideration for employment.
