About the Position: This position is located with the I Corps Senior CDR AUG, G-8 Resource Management Program & Budget Division, on Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA.

Duties

Serve as a Budget Analyst in the I Corps/Army Senior Commander’s Mission Support Staff (MSS) G8, Program and Budget Division. Perform full range of budget analysis, including formulation, justification, presentation, and execution for those Major Subordinate Commands (MSC) assigned, aligned or attached to I Corps as well as the Corps Staff Principles’ budget. Utilize Army Financial Management systems to include the General Fund Enterprise Business Systems (GFEBS), Defense Travel System (DTS), and the Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army) for assigned units.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Financial Management Level 2 Certification is required within two years of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Review initial budget submission to ensure that planning guidelines are followed and estimates for the fiscal programs are in line with issued targets and then formulate, monitor, and report on a prioritized/structured budget based on that information; (2) Identify, analyze, present, and resolve budgetary problems utilizing automated budgetary systems; and (3) Apply the principles and practices of budget execution to determine whether obligations, expenses and requested allotments are within approved funding limits. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Finance or Accounting. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Budget ExecutionBudget Formulation, Justification, and PresentationFinancial Management Analysis Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
