About the Position: This position serves as a Budget Analyst with 189th Infantry Brigade, S-8 located at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA.

Duties

Administer the Brigade’s overall budgetary management system. Interpret budgetary policies, guidance and procedures used by higher headquarters and independently develop and issue subsequent policies/guidance for use within the Brigade. Compile and prepare or oversee preparation of a variety of narrative and statistical budgetary forms, schedules, and reports, which address the budget formulation and/or execution process/status. Supervise employees engaged in budget development and execution functions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position requires incumbent employee to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
  • This is a Financial Management Level 2 Certified position.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • Position may require a one-year probationary period.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes identifying, analyzing and resolving a range of budgetary problems such as the development of alternative methods of funding, formulation of budget estimates for program in which requirements have changed to the extent that substantial re-budgeting is required each year, and development and administration of budget execution plans subject to fluctuating revenues and changing demand for services which necessitate reprogramming throughout the fiscal year. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Budget ExecutionBudget Formulation, Justification, and PresentationConcepts, Policies, and Principles of BudgetOral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
