This position is part of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for applying applications software development principles and methods in the design, development, testing and implementation of software needed for computer or computer supported equipment.
Duties
As a Information Technology Specialist (APPSW) at the GS-2210-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Perform software development management duties for teams using common agile frameworks like Scrum and Kanban.
Support the full software development life cycle, from design to coding, debugging, testing, and full implementation. Perform application development, including full-stack web application development, using both traditional and low-code development environments, and interface with other back-end frameworks and databases, using a variety of technologies.
Build and maintain existing and new applications and reports using a variety of platforms, and recommend modifications to supporting underlying data structures and databases.
Perform functional and technical design. Understand business and technical specifications, which are translated into functional capabilities.
Apply common software development methodologies and paradigms, such as iterative development, procedural programming and object oriented programming.
Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality, adhering with coding standards and best practices.
Prepare system documentation and recommendations for improving software development and configuration management processes in accordance with acceptable industry standards.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-13 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
Applying applications software development principles and methods in the design, development, testing and implementation of software needed for computer or computer supported equipment.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
