About the Position: This is a permanent position with Headquarters, US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Safety and Occupational Health Office.

Duties

Serve as Chief, Safety and Occupational Health Office for the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville. Exercise Center-wide command and control with responsibility for developing and implementing a safety and occupational and health management system. Develop procedural and programmatic guidelines for global implementation of program requirements from interpretation of broad policy and regulatory guidelines. Provide program management and oversight, technical guidance and assistance on diverse, high safety risk and complex hazardous conditions in a widely dispersed global area. Evaluate safety and occupational health requirements proposed for future facilities and new equipment procurements. Implement Command-wide safety and occupational health standards and procedures for application during the planning and design phases for application during the construction phase. Conduct a Command-wide comprehensive evaluation program for effectiveness of occupational safety and health requirements in the work environment. Serve as the agency functional career representative for the Army Safety Occupational Health (SOH) Career Program within the Center. Identify specific hazardous conditions, requiring an in-depth analysis and subsequent implementation of measures to control or eliminate unsafe or health threatening conditions.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes serving as a senior technical specialist responsible for analyzing, organizing, and implementing major elements of the safety and occupational health program; providing expert advice and assistance in the development of safety and occupational health aspects for projects; evaluating safety and occupational health requirements proposed for future facilities and new equipment procurements; providing safety program management and oversight on diverse, high safety risk, and complex conditions; and identifying specific hazardous conditions requiring an in-depth analysis and subsequent implementation of measures to control or eliminate unsafe conditions This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementSafety and Health Training and EducationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
