About the Position: The position is located within the Human Resources Division, Military Personnel Branch S-1, Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Supervisor of Military Personnel Operations with responsibility to provide a full range of direct human resources functional support for approximately 1800 Soldiers assigned or attached to Brooke Army Medical Center.

Duties

Serve as a Supervisor of Military Personnel Operations with responsibility to provide a full range of direct human resources functional support. Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments. Prepare multiple complex reports for higher headquarters. Provide final review for all military personnel actions prior to submission. Identify training needs of subordinates and arranges for training based on need. Develop, collect and analyze statistical data in order to identify problem areas and make sound recommendations to the command. Ensure monthly promotions boards are accomplished on time and required data uploaded into the Soldiers record.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance, Tier 3 for access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) administering human resources principles, policies, and regulations pertaining to military programs, 2) analyzing data to make recommendations on a variety of military personnel matters, 3) utilizing administrative procedures to produce reports, 4) processing military actions utilizing a variety of automated personnel databases, and 5) reviewing work assignments of others for completeness and accuracy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Resources Management or Business Administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Manages and Organizes InformationManaging Human ResourcesTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
