About the Position: This position serves as the Supervisor, Military Human Resources (HR) with the responsibility of overseeing, planning, developing and implementing systems that support the components of the military personnel management life cycle. This position is located in Fort Drum, New York.

Duties

Serves as the Supervisor, Military Human Resources (HR), responsible for providing technical advice and guidance regarding a wide variety of HR programs. Interprets and implements a wide variety of laws, DA and regulations. Reviews and acts on a variety of military personnel activities, including but not limited to personnel actions, rating schemes, position authorizations, personnel assignments and requisitions, and promotion/selection boards. Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. Analyzes military HR management issues and problems and develops recommendations and alternative solutions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment
  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) may be required outside of local commuting area, approximately 25% of the time.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as: Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Political Science. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Ability to Lead or SuperviseCommunicationsTechnical CompetenceTechnical Credibility Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
