About the Position: Independently, or as a team member, conducts investigations to apprehend and/or detain persons committing crimes against persons and property.

Duties

Independently, or as a team member, conducts investigations to apprehend and/or detain persons committing crimes against persons and property. Coordinates with civil and military agencies involving jurisdictional authority, exchange of information, and similar problems and considerations. Develops and follows leads, takes statements, and gathers information and facts. Serves as Point of Contact (POC) for civil law enforcement agencies required to serve due process to military and civilian personnel on the installation. Processes civil arrest reports. Initiates Police Reports for the arrest of a service member by civil law enforcement authorities for the edification of the command. Responsible for the proper documentary control of the safe and secure storage of all evidence obtained during investigations, raids, etc. Maintains continuous accountability reports ensuring that items are properly marked, recorded, stored, issued, turned-in, and returned to owner or disposed of by authorization of proper authority.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Successful graduation from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy is required, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • Successful graduation from the USAMPS Military Police Investigator Course is required.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Must be able obtain and maintain a valid Tier 2 (Secret) security investigation.
  • Official Temporary Duty travel (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required.
  • Subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
