This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Police Officers to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is for a permanent position with Directorate of Emergency Services at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.

Duties

Exercise search and arrest authority, detain witnesses, apprehend suspects, and interview witnesses. Conduct long and short-term investigations on criminal cases. Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar and breathalyzer. Operate National Crime Information Center terminal in accordance with federal and state laws. Respond to and investigate emergency calls, complaints, and other calls for service. Collect and preserve evidence.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Incumbent must have successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy; or successfully graduate within 12 months of hire date; or is a current employee and is considered grandfathered IAW AR 190-56.
  • Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • These include, but not limited to: weapons qualifications, first aid/CPR and National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.
  • Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation.
  • Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
  • The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report or remain at work.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Hours of work are subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • Incumbent must wear a uniform and comply with the Army Civilian Police Dress and maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene in accordance with AR 190-56.
