This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Police Offers to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is for a permanent position with Directorate of Emergency Services at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.

Duties

Responsible for performing duties designed and mandated to provide controlled, safe hunting and boating activities. Apply laws, ordinances, and rules pertaining to the rights of an individual suspected of committing a crime or other violation. Coordinates with prosecuting attorneys on case developments. Coordinates with local Natural Resources office to ensure that Conservation Law Enforcement activities are fully integrated within the Installation Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP). Employ police equipment and weapons to perform law enforcement duties. Develop case information for use in filing complaints or bringing suspects to trial. Enforce Military, State, and Federal Regulations to uphold the law.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army. Must be able to successfully pass a drug test.
  • Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved exemption/waiver or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • Successfully graduated from the USAMPS Conservation Law Enforcement Officer Course within one year of assignment.
  • This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
  • This position requires a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • This position is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • This position is Mission Essential and is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Commander and may be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends.
  • This position requires a medical examination prior to employment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
  • This position requires the incumbent to comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).

Qualifications

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) Planning, coordinating, and conducting the enforcement program of Federal, State and wildlife regulations; (2) Conducting surveillance, interviewing and interrogating suspects; (3) Collecting evidence into violations Federal Wildlife and environmental laws; and (4) Enforcing limits of restricted land boundaries. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
