You will serve as a LEAD FIREFIGHTER (BLS/HAZMAT OPS) in the FEDERAL FIRE DEPARTMENT/N23 of NAVAL AIR STATION LEMOORE.
Duties
You will perform non-invasive emergency procedures: conduct initial and on-going patient assessment and physical examination, maintain airway, breathing circulation.
You will lead a crew of three or more firefighters and instruct them on specific tasks and firefighting techniques and will provide written instructions and/or reference materials and supplies.
You will direct the placement of firefighting equipment to ensure maximum utilization in fire control, aircraft crash, or rescue operations.
You will establish a safe perimeter around a hazardous material incident to protect self and others.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work week.
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing firefighting techniques for fire hazards peculiar to airfields such as aircraft, special weapons and hazardous materials; 2) Working with firefighting equipment (e.g., fire alarm systems, foam generators, boom and ground sweep nozzles) using the correct techniques and procedures. 3) Driving and operating a variety of firefighting vehicles, apparatuses, or equipment; and 4) performing noninvasive emergency and medical procedures.

This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS-8: Firefighter II, Fire Officer I, Fire Inspector I, Fire Instructor I, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Operations, Driver/Operator Pumper and Driver Operator ARFF (Airport Rescue Fire Fighting), Aerial vehicles, and National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Life Support (NREMT-B) certification will be a requirement. These certifications must have been awarded by National Registry, DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications, you will be rated ineligible.
