This position is part of the Plant Operations, Government Publishing Office in Washington,
District of Columbia.
Duties
Works with supervisory team to set job priorities,
daily personnel assignments, equipment assignments, and daily division goals.
Monitors the operation by ensuring that jobs are being completed by priority, and in accordance with
established standards, and personnel and equipment are being utilized to maximize production output.
Orders or requests the ordering of necessary supplies to assure success of the operation.
Ensures that lean manufacturing practices and procedures are followed, in particular 5S.
Performs EQPR 's and evaluates subordinates’ performance annually and reviews performance ratings
completed by other Prepress Supervisors.
Makes recommendations for promotions training and awards when necessary.
Counsels' employees whose performance is marginal, suggests ways to improve their performance and
takes corrective action when necessary.
Enforces, and ensures subordinates are engaging in appropriate conduct, safety, and other GPO rules
and regulations.

Qualifications
To qualify for the Prepress Supervisor, KI - 4401 - 00 , you must meet the following requirements:
Applicants must meet the following screen out element #1 below, to be considered eligible for this position: Ability to lead or supervise the work of others. Applicant must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of this position. These duties include distributing work assignments; explaining and ensuring work performed in section meet required quality levels; leading crews in completing projects; providing informal training to other journeypersons in all phases of the Bill End Section; ensuring production schedules are met daily identifying work plans, appropriate personnel, materials and equipment; and recommend solutions to the supervisor for action; developing work plans to ensure timely completion of work; and performing administrative and personnel management functions. In addition to meeting Basic Qualifications, applicants MUST:(1) complete a formal, recognized apprenticeship or GPO journeyperson training program, or posses substantially equivalent practical experience in the trade of the vacant position. (2) at least 1 year of journeyperson experience subsequent to completion of the above apprenticeship or training. (3) served a minimum of 1 year in a career or career-conditional appointment in the GPO;
