This position is part of the Plant Operations, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia.
Duties
Plans and schedules work for Graphic Processor Operators and clerical employees of the Phototypesetting and processing Section.
Assigns works to subordinates by prioritization of printing delivery suspense dates.
Evaluates work performance of subordinates and initiates performance ratings of subordinates.
Leads projects, and major assignments related to printing schedules and general information on equipment capabilities.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is Required.
- Selectee must successfully pass pre-employment prior to appointment.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one-year managerial probationary period.
- Males born after 12/03/59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Selectee may be required to undergo a background investigation for suitability.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify.
- Selectees must pass a physical examination prior to appointment.
- Selectees must pass a strength test (45 pounds and over) prior to appointment.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Supervisory Graphic Processor Operator, KA -4401-00, you must meet the following requirements:
Applicants must meet the following Screen Out Element/Job Element to be considered for this position: Ability to Lead or Supervise the work of others as a Supervisory Graphic Processor Operator (SCREENOUT) to be considered for this position. Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of a Supervisory Printing Plant Worker. The duties typically performed are:
Skill in setting-up, operating, and maintaining high-speed digital scanners/printers, online/offline finishing machinery/equipment;
Ability to perform continuous physical activities, such as prolonged standing, bending, stooping, reaching;
Experience with using various software applications and computer features to properly prepare jobs for print; and
Experience counseling employees, cautioning employees about work deficiencies and taking corrective actions.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
