This position is part of the Plant Operations, Government Publishing Office in Washington,
District of Columbia.
Duties
Follows up on assignments and tasks given Press Supervisor, Foreperson and Assistant Manager.
Works along with workers and setting the pace.
Maintains a current knowledge and answering questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives.
Verifies information in Oracle GBIS system against Paper Warehouse Delivery Receipt.
Uses an established mathematical formula on GPO paper catalogue to convert press, make-ready and waste impressions to pounds.
Requirements
- You must be a current Career or Career Conditional GPO employee to apply.
- Selectee must be able to obtain and maintain a Non-Sensitive Low Risk Suitabilty clearance.
- Selectee must pass pre-employment prior to appointment.
- Selectee may be required to serve a one year probationary period.
- TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify
- Working conditions: Work is performed in a warehouse environment indoors usually on concrete or composite wood block material floors, in area that are adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated.
- Physical Effort: Performs warehousing work on hard surfaces and in work area that require incumbent to stand stoop, bend and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- Obtain and Maintain, Forklift License.
- Physical Efforts: Lifts moderately heavy items that weigh up to 60lbs.
- Physical Exam and strength test are required.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Printing Plant Worker Leader, KA - 4401 - 00 , you must meet the following requirements:
Applicants must meet the following SCREEN OUT/JOB ELEMENT #1: Ability to do the work of a Printing Plant Worker Leader without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT) to be considered eligible for the position. Applicants must have experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to independently perform the duties typically required of this position. These duties require:
Leading 3 or more workers to accomplish daily work production.
Trains new and present Press employees with proper work methods and processes.
Checks Work while in progress and when completed to make sure supervisor's instructions have been met.
Gathering materials and supplies needed to complete the job.
Reads and reviews work jackets when needed to determine what stock is needed and shipping destination.
Checking work in progress and ensures established procedures are followed and completion of assigned tasks.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
