Duties

You will facilitate and provide the full scope of operational management and oversight of Transition Assistance Program services. You will coordinate with counterparts from other commands to plan and schedule various training events for service members and their families to prepare them for success in civilian life. You will assist clients with creating and maintaining their Individual Transition Plan (IDP) and identifying personal and vocational needs to help them outline milestones to achieve their goals. You will advise clients on how to navigate employment resources to include federal job vacancies, application processes, and on qualification standards.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport upon employment.
  • This position requires routine on-site access to government facilities. The incumbent may perform required tasks at an off-site location for situational telework only.

Qualifications

GS-11 position: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. 1) Provides necessary tools to effectively transition from the military to the civilian community. 2) Facilitates the full scope of operational management and oversight of Transition Assistance Program (TAP) for transitioning military members and/or family members, retirees, reservist, and Department of Defense (DoD) civilian members. 3) Advises clients on how to navigate employment resources to include federal job vacancies, application processes, and on qualification standards. and 4) Develops, maintain, and update marketing materials and maintain up-to-date inventories on available transition and employment services and providers. Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: Miscellaneous Administration and Program Series 0301 (opm.gov) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

Applicants that do not have the specialized experience described under the Qualifications section may qualify with education or a combination of education and experience as follows:

A. You have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

OR

B. You have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

OR

C. You have successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled.

OR

D. You have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Your percentage of the required education plus your percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
