About the Position: This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Duties
Monitor the Institutional Review Board membership to ensure compliance with applicable research regulations.
Provide training to personnel through individual or group classes.
Contribute to the development of standards for program accomplishments.
Establish the agenda for the Institutional Review Board meetings.
Participate in creating performance improvement activities of the Institutional Review Board.
Provide instruction concerning the protection of human research subjects.
Draft correspondence to organizations regarding research protocols.
Coordinate the preparation of the Institutional Review Board minutes.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing research protocols based on regulations and guidelines; providing advice and instruction concerning the review process and requirements for the protection of human subjects in research. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
