You will serve as a LEAD PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHER in the INSTALLATION SUPPORT DIRECTORATE of MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR.

Duties

You will assign work stations and brief on-coming dispatchers of new/old information prevalent to the shift. You will check all equipment that is under your responsibility for the shift and ensure that all equipment is in working order; if not, you will contact the personnel who can respond to evaluate/fix the problem(s). You are responsible for access control and the security of the dispatch center. You will enforce protocol and procedures to assure access control measures are adhered to by all visitors. You will administer the LVR Recording system and are responsible to ensure the information is only released to authorized persons or agencies. You will distribute and balance the workload among employees, prepare work schedules, incorporate leave and personnel shortages and reports them to the supervisor to ensure complete coverage of the shift. You will oversee the prioritization of all emergency calls that come in via phone or radio. You will assist dispatchers in answering additional calls, radio transmissions and assisting dispatchers as needed. You are responsible for the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls that are received via a variety of communication channels.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • Must be capable of obtaining certification for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMO) (Fire and Law Enforcement Dispatch- Power phone).
  • The Lead Public Safety Dispatcher is subject to 24/7 emergency recall during emergencies or special events. May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • You must be capable of obtaining the Hazardous Materials Awareness and Department of Defense (DoD) Tele-communicator I and II certifications.
  • You must be capable of obtaining user access to Automated Regional Justice information System (ARJIS), California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS), Consolidated Law Enforcement Operations Center(CLEOC) and National Crime Info Center.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: advising personnel on procedures, and policies/directives; distributing workload among employees; dispatching units to emergency situations; answering emergency calls and assisting dispatchers in need.
