Duties

You will serve as liaison with all serving utility companies, including utility control systems, and utility metering. You will prepare engineering reports and correspondence for customers, major claimants, and congressional committee review. You will conduct field work and semi-professional work associated with targeting utility systems. You will perform engineering investigations, inspections, and analyses to resolve existing operational problems. You will provide project review to ensure coordination with Public Works Center Utility systems.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying basic practices and techniques of electrical and mechanical engineering as they relate to the design and operation of electrical and mechanical utility distribution systems; 2) Using computer assisted engineering design and drafting systems in relationship to and interfaces with utilities control systems and utilities metering; 3) Using engineering test equipment and instrumentation to enable field analysis of utilities system problems and evaluation of the effectiveness of corrective actions taken; and 4) Applying existing engineering theories and new developments to current problems and to employ long-term planning on projects of broad scope and complexity.
