This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U. S. Coast Guard, LANTAREA, LANTAREA Preparedness Division, LANTAREA Planning Branch, LANTAREA Operational Planning Section in Portsmouth, VA.
Duties
The position is located in the Operational Planning Section (LANT-533), Coast Guard Atlantic Area (LANTAREA), Portsmouth, VA. Manages LANTAREA Detached Duty External (DDE) billets and CGRUs assigned to the Combatant Commanders (CCMD) and Naval Component Commands (NCC) for which LANTAREA has Principal Planning Agent (PPA) responsibility. Manages assigned recurring international engagements for which LANTAREA is the Executive Agent (EA) for the Coast Guard.

- This position requires occasional travel.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- This position requires a Secret clearance.
Qualifications
AT THE GS-13 GRADE LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal sector related to the position to be filled. Experience with financial management experience developing inter-agency funding documents. Advise foreign personnel and US intra-and-interagency staff on security assistance programs. Review publication and directives promulgated by other agencies to ensure consistency with parent agency policy.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
