About the Position: Performs duties as an Operational Plans Specialist responsible for the development and maintenance of Army South (ARSOUTH) plans, files, and data to meet the full spectrum of the command's military tasks and mission requirements in South and Central America and the Caribbean.
Duties
Direct operational planning teams (OPTs) in developing, reviewing, and maintaining the full spectrum of ARSOUTH operational plans from installation security to theater/strategic contingencies as assigned.
Maintains planning systems and files required for the development and editing of reportable deployment planning information through joint and Army channels.
Conduct long range planning to forecast operational resource requirements three to five years out.
Establish priorities to facilitate timely and accurate analysis of missions, development of operational concepts, formulation of potential courses of action, and development and maintenance of all required plan documentation and supporting data.
Analyze recommendations, proposals, and justification for forces/units and other operational requirements in terms of quantitative and/or qualitative assessments of their impact on ARSOUTH mission effectiveness.
Submit consolidated forecast requirements across the staff yearly as part of the command's Program Objective Memorandum (POM) within the Planning Programming and Budget Execution process.
Resolve complex operational issues and advises the commander on all aspects of operational planning.
Develop Regional Plans with Chief of Staff of the Army (CSA) staff talk program within for HQDA directed countries.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires a Security Clearance at the TOP SECRET/Special Sensitive Level as the incumbent will be required to access, process, use, and safeguard classified National Defense information.
- This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. The incumbent must pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent to be willing and able to obtain and hold an official passport.
