You will serve as a Safety & Occupational Health Specialist in the Training and Education Command (TECOM) of TRAINING AND EDUCATION COMMAND.
Duties
You will plan, manage, coordinate, and evaluate the Navy/Marine Corps Occupational Health Program.
You will provide guidance on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for training or administrative functions.
You will develop and prepare local safety and occupational directives through adaptation of higher command instructions and policies.
You will receive and investigate employee reports of unsafe or unhealthy working conditions.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Conducting occupational safety and health (OSH) inspections utilizing knowledge of a wide range of OSH laws, principals, regulations, methods, standards and techniques; 2) Evaluating and analyzing working conditions, process methods, operations, and the overall safety and health environment to determine extent of compliance and to devise and recommend appropriate action to bring organization into full compliance with applicable OSH directives; 3) Compiling statistics and analyzing data relating to mishap cause and cost incurred in the form of reports and graphs for recording and reporting OSH trend issues; and 4) Providing expert technical guidance to supervisors and employees by recommending corrective action to eliminate and control unsafe or unhealthful conditions.

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
- Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology; OR
- Completion three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D., or LL.M., or equivalent degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.; OR
- Possess a combination of specialized experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience must equal 100 percent.
