About the Position: Supports the Chief of Fires and provides advice to component commands or joint headquarters in fires and effects planning concepts, objectives, and formulation of support plans, including and accomplishes assigned missions and tasks providing necessary continuity in the direction and control in the development of operations, activities, investments and training programs and initiatives.

Duties

Serves as the ARNORTH Special Technical Operations (STO)/Special Access Program (SAP) and Alternative Compensatory Control Measures (ACCM) authority and expert on all matters involving STO/SAP/ACCM and other classified program issues for ARNORTH. Manages and directs ARNORTH STO/SAP/ACCM facility that hosts a wide range of organizations, both government and private in nature, for the purpose of evaluating, testing and training personnel on the use and function of new technology. Assists in planning, budgeting, coordinating, and executing all STO/ SAP/ACCM for ARNORTH. Develops and prepares a variety of STO/SAP/ACCM indoctrination briefings, correspondence and other documentation, i.e., formal letters, position papers, reports, staff studies, staff summary packages, briefings, charts, bullet background papers, etc. Supports the Fires Cell with on-going current operations, exercise planning, force employment, orders preparation, staff planning, coordination with higher and adjacent commands.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The incumbent may be subjected to short notice recall.
  • Incumbent must be able to travel frequently related to the duties of the position to attend planning meetings or conferences in connection with homeland defense operations, planning or exercises at 25% of the time.
  • Overtime may be required on short notice. Shift work may be necessary during exercises, crises, or contingencies.
  • A TOP Secret Security Clearance is needed for the position.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • A Supervisory probationary period maybe required.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
