The primary purpose of this position is to provide AF and DoD customers with specialized depot-level maintenance, technical support, and services for all equipment assigned to and supported by the Cryptologic and Cyber Systems Division Maintenance Branch to include depot level repair, modification, upgrades, and preventative maintenance actions of new and existing assets.

Duties

DUTY 1: Applies an extensive knowledge of electronic test and repair theories, principles, methods, and/or the use of specialized ATE and techniques on a broad variety of operational Air and Ground, Consolidated SIGINT support Activity (CSSA), Force Protection, and COMSEC mission equipment, to include Nuclear Command and Control (NC2) equipment as a Personal Reliability Program (PRP) team member DUTY 2:Preforms analysis of equipment error logs and failures to replicate the failures and environmental conditions to perform necessary correctible maintenance actions to repair the equipment. DUTY 3: Performs critical inspections to identify manufacturing or design flaws that can affect physical or electrical reliability and maintainability causing acceptable risks DUTY 4: Represents the AFLCMC/HNC and AFLCMC/HNCM within his/her functional area of responsibility. DUTT 5: Exercises necessary security measures to ensure protection of classified materials DUTY 6: Enforces occupational and environmental safety standards, fire protection, and good housekeeping habits

• Employee must be able to pass color blindness examination and also meet the following requirements prior to certification for Hi-Reliability soldering: Near vision- 20/20 at 14 inches and Far vision- 20/50

• Employee must be able to perform in operational setting of extreme stress caused by the need to keep equipment in full operation to meet impending satellite launch schedules.

Qualifications

Additional Conditions of Employment: This position may include information assurance (IA) work as an additional duty. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the recipient of this additional duty must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six-month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in the reassignment of this additional duty to another employee within the organization. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: knowledge of electronic equipment design, development, evaluation, testing, installation, and maintenance; and knowledge of the capabilities, limitations, operations, design, characteristics, and functional use of a variety of types and models of electronic equipment and systems related to, but less than, a full professional knowledge of electronic engineering. knowledge of the techniques and theories characteristic of electronics, such as a knowledge of basic electricity and electronic theory, algebra, and elementary physics; Electronics technicians may have gained experience assisting in work situations including: Maintenance - Developing maintenance standards and procedures for use by others. Installation - Planning and directing the installation of complex systems and associated facilities, particularly where there are site selection and construction problems, dealings with contractors and public utilities, and the possible need to modify equipment for novel site characteristics. Fabrication - Designing and analyzing circuits, determining design feasibility, evaluating equipment performance under varying environmental conditions, and collecting performance data. Testing and Evaluation/Research and Development - Developing or evaluating new or modified electronic systems. Completing testing, evaluating data, and determining acceptability of equipment modifications, validity, test procedures and data, or legality of operation. Sustainment - Developing, performing, evaluating, or modifying calibration and test equipment, systems, and procedures. Reporting, analyzing, and archiving test data. Troubleshooting - Analyzing and diagnosing faults in the operational configuration of electronic systems and equipment. Technicians support professional engineers in performing experiments, research, and developmental activities requiring an in-depth knowledge of technical engineering methods, applications, practices, and principles to work on concepts, prototypes, and experimental projects that are without precedent and support state-of-the-art research. experience includes Work as a technician, instructor, inspector, or mechanic (civilian or military) that showed progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic theory, and of the characteristics, function, operation, and capabilities of a variety of types of electronic equipment. This experience must have included the use of schematic diagrams, a variety of test equipment, and the application of appropriate electronic formulas involved in such duties as testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on electronic equipment, or similar functions; and experience in developing policies, standards, and procedures for maintenance, installation, or similar functions, provided the work clearly shows that the applicant applied a specialized knowledge of the theories and principles of a variety of electronic systems or equipment. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Ability to work on NC2 equipment, be dependable, mentally alert, and technical proficient with respective duty elements. Be flexible in adjusting to changes in the working environment, including ability to work in adverse or emergency situations, and have a positive attitude toward nuclear weapons duty. 2. Knowledge of electronics technician practices, methods, techniques, processes, operations, terminology, and design as they relate to depot-level test and repair in addition to technical specifications/data to develop, collect, analyze, evaluate, and interpret specifications, schematics, engineering drawings, test reports, original equipment manufacturer technical specifications/technical data when developing/establishing depot-level maintenance capabilities. 3. Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, policies, principles, methods, procedures, and other guidance related to various functions of life-cycle sustainment/maintenance support; in depth understanding of the interrelationships of various disciplines required to manage systems/projects/programs. 4. Skill in interpreting technical data such as drawings, schematics, blueprints, and specifications of complete electronic systems; analyzing problems in integrated/interfacing systems involving numerous complex circuits; and using complex electronic and electromechanical test and measuring equipment using integrated test functions or different purposes. 5. Ability to apply and convert knowledge of equipment, systems design, and test methodologies into detailed but practical depot-level maintenance test procedures, and /or local work card to coordinate effectively with equipment specialist engineers, system managers, program offices to identify specific maintenance training requirements; and to develop and adjust plans and schedules to meet requirements. 6. Ability to modify standard procedures, adapt equipment or techniques, and make departures from previous approaches to solve technical problems or improve system performance for highly complex electronic systems; trace electronics logic from one system to another; and use computer terminals to enter and extract data to maintain records and document actions PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
