You will serve as a SUPERVISORY SECURITY SPECIALIST (NUCLEAR) in the NNPICO AND INFOSEC BRANCH (1124), SECURITY DIVISION (1120), of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Duties

You will administer command programs for controlling naval nuclear propulsion information (NNPI), information security, operations security, and department/ project security coordinators. You will ensure appropriate measures are established and enforced to control and prevent unauthorized access to or dissemination of NNPI including training of personnel on NNPI requirements. You will evaluate work areas for security requirement compliance and maintain a listing of active nuclear work areas (NWAs) and controlled nuclear information areas (CNIAs). You will review procedures, training, various documents, photographs, etc. for appropriate classification and make independent determinations regarding NNPI status. You will develop written security orders, standard operating procedures, directives, and audit responses to cover all phases of assigned duties. You will oversee the status of funds for projects, the schedule and rate of progress in projects, and protect the security of the command in sensitive, delicate, and controversial situations. You will supervise security specialists and make decisions/recommendations impacting the command’s Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, Information Security Program, and Operations Security Program. You will provide interpretation of policies and guidance to command management.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector evaluating nuclear work areas for security requirement compliance for a nuclear propulsion program. Examples of qualifying experience: Controlling nuclear propulsion information, information security, and operations security, for a nuclear propulsion information program in accordance with Department of Defense or Naval Sea Systems Command guidance.
