About the Position: The incumbent carries out teaching and instruction activities in accordance with established objectives, policies and accepted teaching practices.
Duties
Provides multiple methods of instructions, evaluation, and counseling to students.
Develops and prepares lesson plans, instructional materials, and program evaluations.
Administers and evaluate oral, written, and hands-on exams.
Oversees the serviceability and maintenance of classrooms and training resources.
Serves as the field training primary instructor responsible for the integration and synchronization of multiple training events.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The position requires a pre-appointment physical.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- The incumbent is required to travel up to 5% of the calendar year.
- The work requires some physical demands such as prolonged/repetitive standing, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, and carrying items such as audio-visual equipment, manikins, etc., items may weigh up to 100lbs.
- On occasion, field training will be conducted requiring incumbent to work in cold and hot temperatures, on which occasions the incumbent will be required to work outdoors regardless of the weather conditions.
- Incumbent must possess the prescribed certification for practice approved by the National Registry for Emergency Medicine Technicians and be currently licensed or eligible to obtain licensure in the State of Texas

Individual Occupational Requirements
Education
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.
OR
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes planning, developing and managing comprehensive instructor-training within the Combat Paramedic Program where duties include (but are not limited to) developing and modifying classes and material; updating and writing lessons; ensuring adherence to command training doctrine in developing lessons; using judgment and discretion on modifying subject matter content as needed; independently maintaining and updating materials based on research.
Examples of qualifying specialized experience include:
Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).
Supervising or administering a training program.
Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.
Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled , such as, education, instructional design, or training and development.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
