This position is located in the Office of Administrative Services (OAS), Executive Office, Environment and Natural Resources Division. OAS is responsible for records management that include the development, implementation, maintenance, evaluation, and operation of a modern records management program.

As a Records and Information Management Specialist, duties include the following:
Assists in maintaining and monitoring an integrated records program affecting policies and procedures throughout the Environment and Natural Resources Division.
Identifies procedures and methodologies to improve the effectiveness and efficiency in the life cycle management of records and documentation.
Provides assistance to resolve program or policy issues.
Interprets National Archives and Records Administration, Department of Justice, and Division policy and guidance.
Prepares and disseminates guidance on employee recordkeeping obligations, responsibilities, and practices.
Assists with revising the Division's training plan and development of instructional material and reference guides.
Participates with training, presentations, and workshops on records management responsibilities including identification of Federal records in all formats and media.
Participates in the formulation, promulgation, and maintenance of Division policies, objectives, and strategic plans relating to records management.
Provides suggestions, advice, and assistance to staff and contractors with respect to individual or case-related records management issues.
Collaborates with Office of Information Technology and Office Information Management to provide support for compliant electronic record keeping and records life cycle management.

- Must meet eligibility and qualification requirements by closing date
- If this is your first appointment in the Federal service, your salary will be set at Step 1 of the grade selected.
Qualifications
To Qualify for GS-9: You must have one year of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-7 Federal grade level or above performing technical and advisory services for an organization's records management program; OR have a Master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR two (2) full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR a combination of graduate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
Note: Examples of qualifying specialized experience include applying federal policies, procedures, and regulations as they relate to government records management; developing and conducting records management projects; classifying, categorizing, and tagging various case files; and coordinating actionable items with multiple stakeholders (e.g. NARA, Federal Records Center, team leaders, etc.).
To Qualify for GS-11: You must have one year of specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-9 Federal grade level or above maintaining an organization's integrated records management and electronic recordkeeping program for the creation, maintenance, and disposition of records and documents using National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) policies, procedures and guidelines; OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR three (3) full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR a combination of education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements of this position.
Note: Examples of qualifying specialized experience include interpreting and applying NARA policies and guidance; reviewing file plan work requirements, storage conditions, and retention schedules; and applying government-wide policies and procedures related to the proper use, maintenance, storage and disposition of Federal records.
Qualifying education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position.
