About the Position: Serves as a Deputy Chief in the G35, Future Operations (FUOPS) Division. The Deputy Chief is the senior plans and operations specialist directly responsible for the FUOPS Division Chief and the ARNORTH Assistant Chief of Staff (ACoS) G-3/7. Serves as subject matter expert at ARNORTH on the coordination, collaboration, and de-confliction of interagency equities and plans into military planning and operations within the scope of US policy.
Duties
Develop and deliver integrated interagency planning products to the Commander, ARNORTH for incorporation into various contingency plans (CONPLANS) and annexes requiring interagency integration within the NORTHCOM area of responsibility (AOR).
Develop plans and program concepts to ensure operations are in keeping with existing statutes, laws, regulations, and stated USG and NORTHCOM policy objectives.
Responsible for providing analytical and coordinative services for operationalizing ARNORTH homeland defense, civil support, and theater army deliberate and crisis action contingency planning and operations efforts.
Responsible for leading the Future Operations Cell (FOC) Operational Planning Meetings (OPTs) composed of ARNORTH staff function, Joint Combined Forces Land Component Command (JFLCC), and other functional service components.
Responsible for leading OPTs in planning, coordinating, and executing ASCC mission portfolio.
Responsible for applying advanced planning concepts and Combatant Command (CCMD) directed adaptive and capabilities-based planning to support planning efforts.
Supervises a team of planning and support specialists at the GS-13 levels. Develops, assigns, and approves goals and objectives for the organization and manages the overall work to enhance the achievement of goals and objectives.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must participate in the DOD/DA Immunization program to include live vaccinations as required by DOD/DA policy.
- Incumbent will be required to deploy within the NORTHCOM AOR on short notice (in under 24 hours).
- You may be required to wear an electronic pager and maintain a working telephone at all times.
- This position requires the incumbent to travel overnight away from home station at 25% of the time.
- The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
