You will serve as a Supervisory Weight Handling Equipment Operations Manager in the Public Works Department Norfolk of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.
Duties
You will analyze procedural documentation of waterfront lifting and handling program to confirm proper maintenance, repair, and testing of weight handling systems and associated instrumentation is completed according to guidelines.
You will direct work operations (e.g., assign priorities, establish objectives, set priorities) to meet the Command mission.
You will reduce operational costs by recommending improved methods to obtain full use of personnel, equipment, and space.
You will interpret and communicate guidelines, policies, and regulations to resolve technical or administrative problems.
You will regularly visit the work sites to ensure safety rules and regulations are adhered to.
You resolve equipment difficulties and deficiencies within the Weight Handling Equipment Operation
Requirements

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require occasional travel from normal duty station. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
- You may at any time be assigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within the commuting area.
- May be designated as Essential personnel and required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during and/or after special emergency situations, such as, but not limited to, destructive weather or disasters, etc.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing software applications such as word processing tools, spreadsheets, metrics related programs, and data entry tools; 2) Resolving equipment difficulties and deficiencies within the Weight Handling Equipment Operation; 3) Planning assignments and categories of work by considering priorities, present workload, weather, equipment, manpower requirements and availability of assets; 4) Implementing corrective actions in response to audit and audit operations deficiencies.
