This position is part of the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Program Support Assistant you will be responsible for providing admissions information to potential students and parents and verifying student files according to guidelines.
Duties
As a Program Support Assistant GS-0303-5, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:
Serves as the initial contact to welcome and assist potential students, parents, current students and staff by providing admissions information.
Maintains a record/log of incoming new and re-admit student applications.
Develops, maintains, and secures student files according to Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines.
Uses software including database management, electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, desktop publishing, and other similar software.
Proofreads material to assure grammatical and typographical correctness and conformity with instructions, guidelines, and policies.
Prepares and types from oral instructions or brief notes, technical documents and reports, travel authorizations and vouchers.

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. For this position, they are listed below.
You must meet the following Minimum Qualifications requirements by the closing date of this announcement:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
GS-05: One year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal service. Examples include: Perform office support duties, such as greeting visitors, answering phones, ordering supplies, and maintaining a filing system for office records/files. Utilize office software to prepare documents, correspondence, or spreadsheets. Ability to communicate information in an organized manner, manage projects and work with technical material.

4 years education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite is creditable. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

Combination of experience and education described above, only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.

Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level.
