You will serve as an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Engineering and Planning Department of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will monitor the execution by the Engineering and Planning Department of the Plan of Action and Milestones developed for the specific ship or project by the Project Planning Team. You will act as liaison between the Engineering and Planning Department and Ship's Force, Type Commanders, Naval Systems Commands, other naval activities and contractors. You will monitor fund expenditures, schedule adherence and manning rates associated with the Engineering and Planning Department effort. You will coordinate the efforts of all divisions of the Engineering and Planning Department with other organizational elements of the shipyard. You will ensure funding is provided by the Business Office and requested technical information necessary for the Engineering and Planning Department to accomplish assigned tasks is available. You will coordinate the acceptance of new work that obligates Engineering and Planning Department resources.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing or developing technical engineering work methods and procedures to provide project planning and technical direction to support the execution of ship maintenance and repair projects to include identifying project barriers or recommending solutions.
