About the Position: Serve as the Army's preeminent Public Affairs expert on all law enforcement and criminal investigations issues and as such plays an essential role in Army strategic communications worldwide.

Duties

Provide timely and accurate information as well as sound public affairs guidance on the most sensitive public affairs issues. Routinely provide information to keep the Army Senior Leadership abreast of critical issues with media and Congressional interest. Advise the Commander on policy formulation and the potential public reaction to programs and activities of the command. Provide situation-specific policy guidance and rapid-response counsel to worldwide DoD and DA Public Affairs practitioners regarding law enforcement investigations and incidents. Develop, coordinate, and manage all aspects of a proactive Community Relations and Command Information Program for internal and external audiences. Organize conferences and represents the command at media centers in the United States and during times of crisis. Perform the full range of personnel management responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires you to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
  • This position may be covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. May be required to sign a DA Form 5019-R and pass urinalysis testing, as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications and MediaLeadershipManages and Organizes InformationManaging Human Resources Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
