About the Position: Serves as Physical Security Specialist for the U.S. Army Installation Management Command-Training, providing subject matter expertise with responsibility for planning, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating physical security programs. Performs physical security assessments across IMCOM-T's supported garrisons.
Duties
As a Physical Security Specialist, you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list:
Serves as technical advisor to IMCOM-T’s Contracting Officer Representatives.
Serves as the IMCOM-Training focal point on policies and procedures governing Physical Security/physical security programs to include Department of the Army Security Guards (DASG).
Manages and provides technical oversight and direct support for Physical Security, Management Decision Package (MDEP), Security Management System (SMS) software, Inspector personnel credentials.
Serves as IMCOM-T’s subject matter expert regarding access control points, electronic security systems (ESS), Physical Security programs, and related major end-items of equipment.
Develops resource guidance for subordinate activities physical security programs.
Provides technical advice for the Command physical security waivers/exceptions program. Reviews, analyzes and comments on requests for physical security waivers/exceptions.
Serves as technical advisor and consultant in coordination with higher headquarters and other DA activities such as the Office of the Provost Marshal General (OPMG) to ensure that Physical Security programs and policies are consistent.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. If the security clearance is denied or revoked, the individual may be denied or removed from the position, accordingly
- Business travel required 20% of the time.
Qualifications
The Installation Management Command (IMCOM) Directorate - Training (ID-T) is responsible for the Mission Command and leadership of 17 US Army Garrison commands and Support Activities that deliver and integrate Base Support services on Army installations to enable Army readiness. ID-T is aligned with the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), the U.S. Military Academy, and the U.S. Army War College and is physically located at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, thereby, better enabling close collaboration with HQ TRADOC.

Specialized Experience for the GS-12 level: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) conducting vulnerability assessments to ensure adequate protection of property, information, and/or material; 2) providing guidance and information on physical security programs; and 3) reviewing security waivers and exceptions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Specialized Experience for the GS-13 level: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) developing local organizational policy and guidance for physical security programs; 2) scheduling and conducting studies and surveys; and 3) interpreting regulations and directives to meet the demands of security and organizational missions and practices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Time in Grade Requirements for GS-13: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
Time in Grade Requirements for GS-12: Applicant who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
