You will serve as a Quality Assurance Specialist (Ships) in the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Division (135), Quality Assurance Department (130), Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) of MID ATLANTIC REGIONAL MAINTENANCE CTR.

Duties

You will interpret command requirements and assure implementation of Non-Destructive Testing requirements. You will schedule, administer and present long-range and short-range training to all Non Destructive Testing personnel. You will provide consultation and resolution for problems encountered in usage of prescribed Non-Destructive Testing methods. You will maintain record systems of individuals NDT qualifications and certifications. You will evaluate performance of inspectors and approval of workmanship. You will be responsible for establishing training for radiographic personnel, ultrasonic inspectors and eddy current inspectors.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

GS-12 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience reviewing quality assurance components utilized in critical and non-critical systems in ship repair and construction; Experience working with design drawings, fabrication documents, technical manuals, NAVSEA Non-Destructive Testing instructions, overhaul specifications, and contracts; Experience interpreting and conveying complex concepts and requirements with authorities, public and private ship maintenance and repair activities, industry experts and all levels of management; Experience developing Non-Destructive Testing training requirements, developing lesson plans, and schedules; Experience administering and presenting initial, continuing, long-range and short-range training to all Non-Destructive Testing personnel assigned; Experience developing and implementing quality and reliable solutions, plans, and system for processes involved in Non-Destructive Testing such as radiography, ultrasonic testing and eddy current testing. GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience reviewing quality assurance components utilized in critical and non-critical systems in ship repair and construction Experience developing Non-Destructive Testing training requirements, developing lesson plans, and schedules; Experience administering and presenting initial, continuing, long-range and short-range training to all Non-Destructive Testing personnel assigned; Experience working with design drawings, fabrication documents, technical manuals, NAVSEA Non-Destructive Testing instructions, overhaul specifications, and contracts.
