You will serve as an ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST in the ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT of NAVY MARINE CORPS SPECTRUM CENTER.

Duties

You will provide assistance to the Administrative Officer, Deputy, Director and Department managers. You will serve as an assistant to the office of the Director and Senior Management. You will be the Alternate Budget Officer and monitor and track obligations and expenditures utilizing various budget, resource management, or accounting and finance systems. You will be responsible for all civilian program areas and for initiating, processing all civilian personnel actions as well as aiding in processing military personnel actions. You will be the Defense Travel Administrator (DTA) who is responsible for all travel function at the command. You will perform administrative function pertaining to personnel training, personnel onboarding, and departure, office support, historical file review and disposals. You will establish internal procedures to secure adequate control in terms of deadlines, progress reports, and directives and using own initiative in developing procedures.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.

Qualifications

For GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience and familiarity with Department of the Navy (DON) financial management policies and processes. Experience and proficiency in Defense Travel Administrator (DTA) is a prerequisite. Experience in and having an extensive administrative background and a thorough understanding of Navy procedures, including correspondence, management, and file systems. Experience and familiarity with DON Human Resources (HR) processes.
