About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the Office of the Chief of Staff of the Army, HQDA G-2 Foreign Intelligence Directorate in the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia.
Duties
Serves as a Branch Chief and senior General Military Intelligence (GMI) Analyst in the Army Red Team, Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA), Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff (ODCS), G-2.
Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) on global GMI threats to the US Army, with emphasis on China, Russia, North Korea and Iran issues.
Requires high level of expertise on global military, national security, political, economic, and cultural trends.
Represents, recommends and negotiates Army Red Team positions for the G-2 and the Army leadership as required.
Is an expert in Red Team operations.
Represents the Army Red Team in the formulation, preparation, negotiation, and consideration of all Red Team issues.
Represents the Army at external Red Team discussions where predictions are made regarding impending events of major national security importance.
Advises G-2 on Army Red Team issues, recommends positions, explains competing and alternative analytic viewpoints.
Prepares tailored Army Red Team analyses to prepare senior Army leadership for high-level meetings, travel and decision making.
Serves as the Army Staff's Red Team advisor on threat issues.
Provides Red Team analysis utilized in Army Staff planning and decision making and in support of Army, Joint Staff and OSD actions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Two-year trial period may be required.
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
- Must obtain and maintain TOP SECRET Security Clearance based on single scope background investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- Must perform temporary duty (TDY) travel in CONUS or OCONUS 25% of the time.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience 1) producing completed intelligence reports based on Red Team/Alternative data analysis; 2) briefing higher echelon leadership on intelligence reports based on Red Team/Alternative Analysis findings/analysis; AND 3) utilizing general military intelligence (GMI) analysis to compile intelligence reports which consider global political and cultural trends. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-13).
Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.
