You will serve as a Lead Quality Assurance Specialist (Materials and Processes) in the Nondestructive Division, Quality Assurance Office of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF).

Duties

You will be responsible for quality assurance evaluation of nondestructive testing performance. You will analyze and assess materials with known, potential, or fatigued characteristics. You will determine the most accurate, cost effective, and reliable method of nondestructive testing. You will develop quality assurance surveillance techniques and procedures to determine efficiency and effectiveness. You will provide input to develop best practices for execution of quality assurance programs.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You may be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work requires regular visits to work sites which includes walking, bending and carrying items. Work is performed in and outside of industrial areas and off-station sites including aboard Naval ships and in dry docks.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and evaluating quality assurance work processes to identify deficiencies in the non-destructive testing performance of materials and processes used in the overhaul of ships.
