Duties

As a INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST (DISCLOSURE) at the GS-0080-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Developing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating the status of the Component programs at all Joint Staff locations Receives, analyzes, and responds to all actions and requests for foreign disclosure sent to the Joint Staff. Ensures that any release of information is consistent with National Disclosure Policy (NDP), Program management responsibilities comprise DoD Component level planning, directing, and managing the implementation of Executive Orders, National Level Policy, DoD Directives and Instructions in the areas of Foreign Disclosure (FD) and Foreign Visits Develops policy for Joint Staff procedures and processes to provide foreign disclosure support to Joint Staff activities. Provides advice, guidance and direction to all Joint Staff command and staff levels regarding policy, interpretation, and application, resolution of particularity difficult problems and circumstances, implementation and application of new techniques and systems, and other areas where assistance is required.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Plan, develop, and implement security programs based on the overall missions of Joint Staff and Department of Defense; Applies Information Security, Foreign Disclosure, Foreign Visits, Operations Security, and Security Education, Training, and Awareness to address matters of concern to the Joint Staff and Combatant Commands; Utilizes security program interrelationships to lead or participate as a technical expert in groups for resolving problems in existing security programs requiring innovative decisions within the Department of Defense; Applies security concepts, principles and practices to advise Joint Staff, OSD, and National Level officials and subject matter managers on new foreign disclosure developments and advances in information security techniques Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
