Primary purpose is to carry out a variety of PA assignments: elements of media operations, social media, community engagement, command information, visual information, communication planning, contingency/crisis response, special event planning, environmental, security and policy review, and PA resource management in support of the mission and the commander's priorities.
Duties
Supports the commander's priorities by carrying out a variety of recurring precedented public affairs assignments.
Produces and assists in producing materials that support the commander's public affairs goals.
Attends a variety of meetings as a representative of the public affairs office.
Assists in planning, organizing, and carrying out the visual information program.
Provides administrative work in support of the Public Affairs Office.

Qualifications
Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions for the Public Affairs Specialist Series, 1035. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of general experience at the NH-01 (GS-04) grade level (or higher) or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of general experience includes applying concepts, principles, and practices of a public affairs program; communicating information through visual means which may include illustrations, photography, presentations, television/motion picture productions, and base cable access television; writing and editing news and feature articles. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.

EDUCATION: Applicant must have successfully completed 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of a Public Affairs Specialist. COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Applicant must have equivalent combinations of specialized experience and education as described above and must be directly related to the work of the position. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
