About the Position: Serve as a Team Lead Security Specialist for the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3, Security Division, in support of the Chief of Security in the execution of multi-discipline security programs. Responsible for the execution of multiple Army programs, including Personnel Security, Information Security, Industrial Security, Operation Security, Physical Security, and Sensitive Compartmented Information.
Duties
Coordinate program effort with other internal activities or with the activities of the different organizations.
Direct work and monitors the performance of employees in accomplishing the assigned workload.
Serve as the Information Security SME for HQDA DCS G-3/5/7 on the classification, downgrading, declassification, and safeguarding of national security information.
Ensure that classification guides for classified plans, programs, and projects are adequately prepared, distributed, and maintained.
Serve as G-3/5/7 Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCIF) security subject matter expert (SME) for evaluating and recommending solutions to resolve simple to complex security readiness problems.
Provide expert advice and assistance at the program manager level concerning the functional elements of the SCI security program to support management, administration, financial, and other decisions.
Conduct Staff Assistance Visits and Inspections to identify security compliance or noncompliance, vulnerabilities, trends, strengths, and benchmarks.
Represent the Division Chief with outside organizations in all matters related to the OPSEC program.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is a testing designated position. Personnel are required to sign DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for Certain Civilian Positions Identified as critical under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program).
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first year of employment.
- This position may require temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of the time.

GS-13 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Managing the Information Security Program to include inspections, classification and declassification of national security information, security incidents, violations, and unauthorized disclosure of sensitive and classified information and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI); Conducting security inspections to ensure compliance with security regulations and directives; Managing a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Program and Foreign Disclosure Program; and Managing and leading security specialists through various complex security matters.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
