About the Position: This position is located at Fort Meade, Maryland. The selectee will be responsible for managing the Employee Assistance program for military spouses and family members within the local community.

Duties

Manages the military spouse and family member employment program within the local community. Implements and directs program goals and objectives for the installation and surrounding area of r the spouse and family member employment assistance program. Develops long range plans that recognizes individual's personal and vocational needs. Establishes and maintains relationships with corporate industry personnel, small business agencies, local chambers of commerce, economic development council, state employment services, universities and private employment agencies. Tracks programs effectiveness by developing and implementing a follow up system. Consults and briefs commanders, installation leadership and the community to keep them aware of trends and other points of interest regarding employment. Design and coordinate workshops and seminars focusing on resume writing, interviewing techniques, salary negotiations, networking and professional image. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting and adjusting short and long term goals, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Evaluates work performance, advises and counsels employees, and makes recommendations for hiring actions.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes1)Developing employment related marketing and educational materials that are easily understood by the targeted audience. 2) Conducting employment workshops to attract a diverse group of individuals that may include, Soldiers, Spouses, and Family Members. 3) Interviewing individuals to determine employment needs and goals and outlining. milestones to achieve goals. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
