The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the application of policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of the Information Technology (IT) services. Participates in program planning, direction and implementation. Assists in the prevention, detection, loss and recovery of IT products and services.
Duties
Prepares, implements, directs, reviews and coordinates on IA policies, procedures, directives, programs, and projects by interfacing with peers, senior leaders, MAJCOM and other external agency representatives, and government contractors.
Manages/Executes AF-approved software program that identifies and summarizes network and computer-based vulnerabilities. Responsible for interpreting the results and ensuring vulnerabilities are addressed and/or resolved.
Participates in activities leading to DoD and DoDIIS Certification and Accreditation (C&A) of NASIC hardware and/or software systems, including providing guidance and assistance in the preparation of required C&A documentation.
Participating in IT configuration management and engineering review board meetings, serving as advisor regarding IT security policies and procedures. Determines requirements, develops policies & procedures for implementing technologies.

- All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
- The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Special Sensitive Security Clearance with access to sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A Non-Disclosure agreement must be signed.

- Work is normally performed in a regular office setting. Work is mostly sedentary and may require long periods
of time working at a desk or computer terminal. At times, walking to or visiting other offices may be required.
- Incumbent may be required to travel outside NASIC in order to teach, receive or exchange information in their area of expertise. In doing so, incumbent may be required to travel locally, within or outside the country.
- This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for Individual Occupational Requirements for Information Technology (IT) Management Series, 2210 (Alternative A)

This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: Knowledge of IA best practices for ensuring the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of information systems. Knowledge of networking devices (i.e., routers, firewalls), as well as the technologies and tools related to electronic attack and defend of such devices. - Knowledge of DoD Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) principles, products, services, tools and techniques. - Understanding of IT server and client technologies (hardware and software) for both the Windows, Unix and/or Linux operating systems. - Understanding of the threats to IT systems, as well as the technologies and tools related to attacking and defending IT systems. - Ability to apply policies and principles of IT security sufficient to carry out activities leading to network and system security certification and/or accreditation. - Ability to apply findings of network vulnerability assessments to mitigate security risks and apply counter measures Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of IT system server and client technologies (hardware and software) for both the Windows and Unix operating systems, as well as the technologies and tools related to electronic attack and defense of such devices.
2. Knowledge of Information Assurance (IA) principles for ensuring the availability, integrity and confidentiality of information systems and skill in applying this knowledge to difficult and complex work assignments.
3. Knowledge of networking devices (i.e., routers, firewalls), as well as, the technologies and tools related to electronic attack and defense of such devices and Practical knowledge of DoD Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN) services.
4. Ability to apply practical knowledge of IT and security principles of IA sufficient enough to develop or enhance policies and procedures for the branch.
5. Ability to apply findings of network vulnerability assessments to mitigate security risks and apply strategies.
6. Ability to apply sound judgment when assessing IT security configurations and in weighing options the impact or influence the desired course of action.
7. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally & in writing, and to present briefings to peers, managers and senior leaders.
