You will serve as a TRAINING SPECIALIST in the Curriculum Systems Division (CSD) of NAVAL SPECIAL WARFARE CTR CORONADO.

Duties

You will be responsible for curriculum maintenance and management, and continuous evaluation and improvement of training programs and instructional support systems that reflect sound principles of Navy education and training. You will provide managerial and program support and consults with Instructional Systems Specialists (ISSs) and Subject-Matter Experts (SMEs) within echelon II, III, and IV training commands. You will advise the Director of Training (DOT)/Curriculum Services Director (CSD) for all warfare area curricula training materials. You will gather research and analysis of performance data to determine effectiveness of instructional systems, courses, or instructional materials. You will act as project manager for new development and curriculum revisions based on feedback collected during training requirement reviews, evaluations, and assessments. You will draft curriculum of new training programs or the major revision of existing curriculum. You will evaluate testing programs for training, performance and cost effectiveness.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Incumbent must also maintain access to classified information and maintain access to controlled security areas.
  • This position may require travel (up to 25%) from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector evaluating and recommending approval/disapproval of curriculum materials to include instructional media and performance/knowledge testing; providing oversight of the curriculum management process; and conducting analyses to identify training requirements using the instructional systems design approach. GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector reviewing curriculum materials to include instructional media and performance/knowledge testing; assisting in the curriculum management process; and utilizing the instructional systems design approach for trainings. Education

In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify for the GS-11 position based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows:

Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

OR

Have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.

OR

Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Your percentage of the required education plus your percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
