You will serve as a TRAINING SPECIALIST in the INFORMATION WARFARE TRAINING DETACHMENT of NAVMETOCPRODEVCEN.
This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will research, create, review, and carry out studies and analyses, resulting in courseware instruction in the fields of Meteorology, Oceanography, and advanced forecasting techniques.
You will assist the Learning Standards Officer (LSO) and Officer-in-Charge (OIC) with course management, instructor certification and evaluation services.
You will act as the primary point of contact in planning, curriculum development, revision, and periodic recertification of METOC Afloat Tactical Team Trainers (MATTTs) and other meteorological and oceanographic training.
You will review and evaluate audio-visual aids for courses to ensure relevance and accuracy; and assist in the development layout, design, and style of publications.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Basic Instructor Course qualification.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Master Training Specialist certification.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying a thorough knowledge of meteorological and oceanographic (METOC) methods, systems, techniques, and practices to develop and manage technical training programs.
Experience applying a thorough knowledge of the methods and techniques of training and education.
Experience applying knowledge of, and skills using the Naval Education and Training Command (NETC) NAVEDTRA 130 (series) Task-Based Curriculum Development Manuals.
Experience developing and delivering curriculum materials following naval standards and other directives.
Experience applying knowledge of Naval METOC training and reference materials including meteorological and oceanographic technical references, standards, competencies, and requirements.
