You will serve as a Training Specialist at Information Warfare Training Detachment, San Diego, a detachment of Information Warfare Training Group Gulfport.

Duties

You will research, create, review, and carry out studies and analyses, resulting in courseware instruction in the fields of Meteorology and Oceanography. You will act as the primary point of contact in planning, curriculum development, revision, and periodic recertification of METOC Afloat Tactical Team Trainers (MATTTs) and other meteorological and oceanographic training. You will build, review and evaluate audio-visual aids for courses to ensure relevance and accuracy. You will assist in the development of layout, design and style of publications. You will serve as a qualified instructor during the course of instruction of METOC Afloat Tactical Team Trainers and other meteorology courses, as required. You will maintain, update, and develop new lesson plans and courses of instruction by utilizing expertise in the subject matter and through understanding new developments and technologies of the Naval Oceanography Program. You will act as a representative of Information Warfare Training Group Gulfport (IWTG-G) at conferences across all echelons with respect to Naval Meteorology and Oceanography products, processes, and procedures,

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to possess a Basic Instructor Course Qualification/NAVY NEC 805A.
  • Achievement of Master Training Specialist Certification is required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience and knowledge of meteorological and oceanographic methods, systems, techniques, and practices to develop and manage technical training programs. Experience and knowledge of the methods and techniques of training and education. Experience and knowledge of Naval METOC training and reference materials including meteorological and oceanographic technical references, standards, competencies, and requirements. Experience communicating effectively, orally and in writing, to prepare technical training material and present technical information to students and special user groups. Experience being liaison with employees, operating personnel, management officials and as appropriate, students, special user groups, and members of other agencies in regard to METOC support and METOC observing, forecasting, and training programs. Experience and knowledge of the APA Style Manual, Department of the Navy Writer's Guide, and Roget's Thesaurus.
